FAQS ABOUT THE VILLAGE AT ORCHARD RIDGE.

Below are some of the most commonly asked questions about The Village at Orchard Ridge. Have a question we didn’t address about our retirement community in Winchester, Virginia? Contact us to learn more.

What are the benefits of today’s retirement communities?

Retirement communities today are vibrant and active with a focus on independence. When you move into independent living at The Village at Orchard Ridge, you have your own private cottage or apartment home, just like any other private neighborhood. The difference is you are joining a community of like-minded older adults who want to make the most of retirement. Because we offer a range of health services — including in-home care, memory care, skilled rehabilitation and long-term care — you have peace of mind knowing you can age in the community you know and love. You will be taken care of should your health care needs ever change, whether in your home or through priority access to all levels of care available at Orchard Woods Health Center.

What makes The Village at Orchard Ridge unique?

So much! First, our location is an ideal place to retire, in the shadow of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and 90 minutes from the cultural hub of Washington, D.C. We offer an array of amenities and activities right on campus, from dining to wellness classes to skilled nursing and on-site rehabilitation. What truly makes our campus unique, however, is that we have a resident-led culture. Our residents are active and engaged with life at The Village at Orchard Ridge, and they are passionate, civic-minded, involved with the Winchester community, and excited about all that life has to offer. Their enthusiasm makes life here very special.

What living options do you offer?

Our independent living neighborhood offers one- and two-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom cottage homes. All homes have spacious floor plans with full kitchens and ample storage space. Interior and exterior maintenance is included, as is electricity, heat and air conditioner, water, sewer, trash removal, basic cable and housekeeping every other week.

What levels of care do you offer? Are you a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?

Yes, we are a CCRC, offering the full continuum of care for older adults. Unlike a traditional CCRC, where you move from your independent living residence to a new location as your needs change, The Village at Orchard Ridge philosophy of aging with choice offers you the opportunity to have in-home services so you may stay in your independent living residence as long as feasible. Through myPotential at Home — A National Lutheran Service and other community partners* we offer in-home support for tasks of daily living.

Should you or your loved one ever need more intensive care than can be managed with in-home care, we offer neighborhood “small houses” in comfortable private suites at Orchard Woods Health Center. This is still close to all of your friends and loved ones in the community, but offers health care services, individualized care planning and an intimate, supportive environment.

What are your health care options?

No matter how your needs change, you will be taken care of at The Village at Orchard Ridge. Beyond our in-home care services, we provide around-the-clock nursing in our skilled nursing and long-term care neighborhoods. Our memory care neighborhood offers supportive care for those living with Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia, providing programming to make each day count.

We strive to blend these services with the compassionate care that defines our community. For residents and community members who are recovering from an illness or surgery, our in-house rehabilitation program is here to help you get back on your feet. Physical, occupational and speech therapies are available.

What are some of your amenities?

Our community is constantly evolving with current and future residents in mind. We strive to provide an enriching lifestyle. Some of our campus amenities include:

More important than the amenities, however, are the activities going on every day of the week. From Bible study, book clubs, educational lectures and exercise classes to interactive games and happy hours, you will find a welcoming group of residents who are excited to have you join them in the vibrant social life at The Village at Orchard Ridge.

What is the entrance fee structure of The Village at Orchard Ridge?

Our fee-for-service program lets you pay for health care services only as needed. Independent living residents pay a one-time entrance fee when moving into the community and a monthly fee.
